It’s All About the Doors
When it comes to privacy and home security, selecting the right front door should be one of the first home design ideas to consider. What better privacy can you have than shutting your front door on the hustle and the bustle of the outside world? So many burglars unfortunately choose to simply kick a front door in as opposed to bumping the lock or breaking a window. To make access to your home more difficult than this, we strongly advise that you strengthen your door jamb and that you replace your front door with a heavy, solid wood or metal door.
A Good Home Security System
Any list of home design ideas is incomplete without a good home security system. When choosing a system, however, which is best…a hardwired system or a wireless one? You’ll have to make that decision on your own, but we can certainly help! Generally speaking, both will offer the same level of security. However, if you live in a home with a lot of square footage, a hardwired system will probably be your best bet. This is because of the distance needed to communicate between devices like your surveillance camera, door and window sensors, etc. While wireless systems can certainly compete with hardwired ones in a small to medium sized home, signals can be interrupted if they’ve got too far to travel in a larger one. If opting for a hardwired system, be sure to consult a professional security team to ensure that it is installed correctly and that all of those pesky wires are out of sight!
